Beauty pageants have been a platform for many young women to be discovered by television producers. Here are 4 Latino young women who shared a past in pageantry before breaking into telenovelas.
1. Lupita Jones, Mexico, 47 years.
Before her first appearance in Rosario in 2013, Lupita Jones was already a popular face in the media, she was Miss Mexico in 1990 then the following year she was also crowned Miss Universe 1991 making her the first Mexican woman to have this title. Jones also starred in “La Malquerida”.

2. Alicia Machado, Venezuela, 39 years.
The “Lo Imperdonable” star was crowned Miss Universe in 1996, after her reign she converted herself into a Spanish-language soap opera star. She shoots the series in her native Venezuela and remains a major media star throughout Latin America.
3. Rivera Zuleyka, Puerto Rico, 28 years.
Rivera made her debut as a telenovela actress in Mexico’s Telemundo soap opera “Dame Chocolate” in 2007 a year after she was crowned Miss Universe 2006. In 2010 she starred in “Aurora” as Diana Del Valle.

4. Ximena Navarrete, Mexico, 27 years.
Ximena Navarrete, best known for her role in “La Tempestad” where she played two roles as a twin alongside William Levy, was crowned Miss Universe 2010.
