Ryeoun discovers his dad’s first love in Twinkling Watermelon
by lovepark

Another fun teaser has dropped for tvN’s upcoming Twinkling Watermelon where our young hero Eun-gyul, played by Ryeoun (The Secret Romantic Guesthouse), finds himself stuck in the past and in quite the predicament. Not only does he have to figure out a way back to his present, but it looks like he may also need to get his parents together if he wants to exist at all.
The teaser opens with Eun-gyul calling Shin Eun-soo (Summer Strike) mom, Choi Hyun-wook (D.P. 2) dad, and Seol In-ah (Oasis) ajumma. As passersby stare at him, Eun-gyul shouts, “Why is everything still the same? Why is it still 1995!?”
The text on screen asks if Mom isn’t Dad’s first love, and we see Yi-chan (Choi Hyun-wook) smile at Se-kyung (Seol In-ah) as he hands her a towering cone of watermelon sugar ice cream. He tells her that he added a tiny portion of his love on top, and from the small snippets shown, Yi-chan is clearly enamored of her.
On the other hand, Eun-gyul is devastated by this crush, and he gets into a fight with his young dad. Shaking Yi-chan by the lapels with blood running down his nose, Eun-gyul yells at him to like Yoon Chung-ah (Shin Eun-soo), but equally flabbergasted, Yi-chan shouts back, “Who is Yoon Chung-ah!?”
In voiceover, Se-kyung says that she doesn’t like the boy but does find him interesting, like reading a comic book that makes you wonder about the next chapter. The teaser, though, depicts Yi-chan shielding a girl from falling books in the library and then holding Chung-ah’s hand as they run and smile at each other.
The teaser suggests that something is wrong, and Eun-gyul begs Yi-chan to stay within his sight for a year. His request sounds like a confession, and a couple of eavesdroppers, including Se-kyung, think so, too. Continuing the misunderstanding, the teaser ends with Eun-gyul saying that today is their fist day together, and Yi-chan scowls at him and leaves.
Directed by PD Sohn Jung-hyun (Mental Coach Jegal) and PD Yoo Beom-sang, with scripts penned by Jin Soo-wan (Chicago Typewriter), tvN’s Twinkling Watermelon premieres September 25 in the Monday-Tuesday slot.
