Madalena asks Antônia to deliver a letter to Bento Gonçalves. Caetana fears that her husband fell in love with another woman. João Gutierrez assures Bento Gonçalves that he intends to marry Mariana. Teixeira Nunes manages to revive Menotti, to Anita’s great relief. Garibaldi tells Bento Gonçalves that he’s leaving because he fears for his family. Anita is amazed to learn that she and Garibaldi are going to the ranch before continuing on to Uruguay.

Tina dies, much to Netto’s sadness. Anita perceives that Manuela still loves Garibaldi. Bento Manuel tells Onofre that Bento Gonçalves is going to meet with Madalena. Garibaldi assures Manuela that he’s never going to forget her and asks her to marry Joaquim. Anita and Garibaldi leave. Bento Gonçalves arrives at Antônia’s house and discovers that Madalena went to the ranch. Caetana asks Madalena what she wants with her husband.Joana becomes sad when she sees Joaquim and Manuela together. Madalena assures Caetana that her business with Bento Gonçalves isn’t personal.

Madalena and Bento Gonçalves seal the accord between Uruguay and Rio Grande to fight against Argentina. Bento Gonçalves convinces Caetana that there’s nothing between him and Madalena. Joaquim and Manuela announce their engagement. Garibaldi arrives in Uruguay with his family. Mariana has her baby, a boy named Matias. Maria doesn’t go to meet her grandson. The Baron of Caxias arrives in Rio Grande to reestablish peace. Bento Manuel turns into his ally.

Bento Gonçalves wound Bento Manuel in battle. Rosário explains to Manuela that part of her died with Estevão. Bento Gonçalves renounces the presidency and returns home. Manuela kisses Joaquim thinking about Garibaldi. Joana advises Joaquim not to go ahead with the marriage.
