Love is for Suckers: Dang, this show keeps doing exactly what I want it to! I really enjoyed this week’s episodes, though I’ll admit the only way I can stomach the reality TV show segments (#death) is because it’s framed in such a way that our leads know it’s a shameful mess. Jae-hoon’s confession was a little soon for me, but I also can’t complain too hard since he’s utterly gentle and devoted with Yeo-reum. THOSE LOOKS!

Love is for Suckers: This is my favorite currently airing drama, but the whole almost-marriage thing — *sigh*. I would have preferred it if they hadn’t included it at all, but since they did, I wish the cause of the breakup and the timeline of events had been better. I wholly understand and support Yeo-reum’s decision to call off the wedding, but — and maybe I’m in the minority on this one — it didn’t feel like a strong enough justification for a complete breakup. I mean, finding out your one-night-stand is pregnant is shocking, life-altering news, and I’m not sure I would have been able to process that information and find a way to tell my fiancée within two days. So when In-woo showed up at the filming site and seemed to genuinely care for Yeo-reum, I actually found myself sympathetically thinking, “they should be in counseling” instead of celebrating the fact that their break-up means we can move onto the Yeo-reum and Jae-hoon romance — and I’m fully on the Yeo-reum and Jae-hoon ship. Admittedly, we’re supposed to understand that she wasn’t truly in love with him this time around. She was in love with the memory of what they used to have, but even with this knowledge, I wish there had been a little bit of a time-skip — perhaps one that mirrored Jae-hoon’s slow recovery from depression — between the called off ceremony and the start of the reality show filming that chronicled her coming to terms with this knowledge.
Cheer Up: I’m starting to get some Weightlifting Fairy vibes from this drama. Not just because it’s featuring athletes in a school setting, but the overall tone and humor is similar. When Jung-woo tried to save Hae-yi from the scooter-of-doom, the unexpected twist on the trope reminded me of the scene when Joon-hyung uses Bok-ju as a shield when a car drives by and splashes water on them.
Love in Contract: I found my attention waning this week as the love triangle-turned-quartet went off the rails, but I did get extremely fired up over Ji-ho’s ex-wife. Excuse me, Lady! How narcissistic do you have to be to think your ex-husband spent five years in a fake marriage just to spite you? I want to keep watching this drama for Ji-ho and Sang-eun’s roommate, who has quickly become my second favorite character, but I’m not sure I will have a strong desire to watch next week’s episodes when they’re released.

Seasons of Blossom: Seo Ji-hoon! Why do you make my heart hurt every single week! T___T Knowing how Ha-min’s story ends just makes it all the more heartbreaking, because it feels like I’m in So-mang’s shoes, reminiscing about the past while desperately wishing it turned out differently. The past storyline captures such an evocative balance of heart-fluttering romance and lonely melancholy, all wrapped up in wistful nostalgia. I would’ve watched this show regardless, just for Seo Ji-hoon and So Joo-yeon, but it’s already far surpassed my expectations. I just wish the present storyline was more compelling, because it unfortunately pales in comparison. Though Jin-young has slowly been growing on me, and I’m anticipating So-mang and Jae-min’s journey to healing, so we’ll see!
Transit Love 2: Have I mentioned that I love Hae-eun? She’s such a bright, empathetic, and lovable person. Her emotional journey has been heartwrenching to watch, and I just hope she finds happiness. As for Hyun-gyu — how do I even begin to sum up his attentiveness, compassion, and tact? He’s so swoonworthy I have no idea how he’s real. I feel deeply for Won-bin, who has a tendency to put others before himself, often to his own detriment. I hope he’ll eventually be able to rebuild his self-worth — he deserves so much love and kindness! Tae-yi has always struck me as sensitive and thoughtful, despite his reticence, so I’m glad the other housemates have warmed up to him. And of course, Na-eon is such a gem! I love her candid maturity, refreshing affability, and sharp wit. (If you’re wondering why I’m not commenting on the remaining housemates, I watch them on 5x speed and the rest of the show on normal speed, so I think that says it all.)
One Dollar Lawyer: Help, I can’t stop laughing! Namgoong Min is so much fun in this role (though really, when is he not), and his comic timing is impeccable. I’m only a couple episodes in, since I started it as a light watch to enjoy while I’m sick, but I’m enjoying it so far. Also, I absolutely love the animated opening — I’m not the only one who spotted those Ace Attorney references, right?

Love in Contract: This thing is turning into a Shakespearian tragedy. I sort of feel bad for everyone involved but then it’s too ridiculous to take it seriously. My favorite parts are the superficial stuff. Like, last week Sang-eun was drooling over Yumi and Bobby kissing in the car and this week she got her own car kiss. Aw, good for her. And really good for her that she kissed both guys in one episode. It’s hard to feel bad for anybody with all that going on.
