  • The Hong sisters (Alchemy of Souls) — Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran — are working on a new romance, and with Sohn Seok-gu (Big Bet) in talks for the lead role, it’s going to be mighty hard to keep my expectations in check. Please be good, please! Titled Can This Love Be Translated (roughly translated), the drama is still in the planning stages with PD Yoo Young-eun (Red Heart) attached to direct. [News1]
  • Another new romance in the works is Eun-joong and Sang-yeon (working title), which has Kim Go-eun (Little Women) considering the title role of drama writer Ryu Eun-joong. The story will explore the industry of TV and film production, with scripts by Song Hye-jin (Hundred Million Stars From the Sky) and PD Jo Young-min (The Interest of Love, Do You Like Brahms) at the helm. • In a busy week of casting news, Lee Je-hoon (Taxi Driver 2) is in discussions with MBC to star in the period investigative drama Chief Inspector 1963 (working title). If Lee accepts, he’ll be taking on the iconic role played by veteran actor Choi Bool-am (Goodbye to Goodbye) in the long-running original series, which aired a whopping 880 episodes between 1971-1989. The remake is planning to broadcast towards the end of 2023. [Osen]
  • The also busy Woo Do-hwan (Joseon Attorney) is already reviewing offers for his next project and one contender has the fun title of Mr. Plankton. Should the stars align, the rom-com will have Woo playing the main character Hae-jo, who dreams of a brighter future when he can finally escape his empty and dreary life. Production is being led by writer Jo Yong (It’s Okay to Not Be Okay) and PD Hong Jong-chan (Link: Eat Love Kill). [Dispatch]
