Bae In-hyuk is a jealous contract husband in new teaser

The latest teaser for The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract gives us more of the antics that we’ve been introduced to, but this time instead of our Joseon-era heroine Lee Se-young (The Law Cafe) taking center stage, we get a look from the perspective of our stoic leading man Bae In-hyuk (Cheer Up).

The teaser opens on our present-day chaebol Kang Tae-ha (Bae In-hyuk), as he describes a vision he had of Park Yeon-woo (Lee Se-young) in Joseon. Of course, while he may think it’s a figment of his imagination, Yeon-woo — and we the audience — know that this is a real glimpse into his past life as Yeon-woo’s husband.

Yeon-woo tells him about as much, desperate for her husband lookalike to recognize her now that she’s travelled to the 21st century. However, her pleas fall on skeptical ears as he shakes her off and tells her to leave: “You’re either crazy or injured.”

But, as the contract marriage gods will it, their close proximity ends up rattling Tae-ha’s unshakeable personality. Initially, Yeon-woo’s eagerness to jump into marital roles, call him hubby, and headbutt him when he offends her conservative sensibilities leave him incredulous and at a loss for words. But while he definitely has zero interest in her whatsoever, heaven forbid he catch her chummy with another man. It’s something that sends him straight into a meditation session while he rants in the voiceover: “Do you even know how much you’ve made a mess of my life?”

After a cut of some more hijinks — one involving a rousing slap to Tae-ha’s passed out face and another involving an oops looks like we fell on top of each other chemical starefest — we wrap on Tae-ha finally making his move to pop the question, “Let me officially propose to you. Let’s get married.”

With the screenplay adapted from the webtoon by Go Nam-jung (Wife Scandal), and direction led by PD Park Sang-hoon (My Secret Terrius), The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract will premiere on November 24 on MBC.
