Choi Hyun Wook Reflects on His Mistakes and Shares Details of His “High Cookie” Character MGG

On the afternoon of October 23, a press conference for the U+ Mobile TV original High Cookie was held in Seoul. The event was attended by director Song Min Yeop, Nam Ji Hyun, Choi Hyun Wook, Kim Mu Yeol, and Jung Da Bin.

High Cookie is a story about mysterious cookies that can grant desires with just a single bite, engulfing an elite high school in its grasp.

Choi Hyun Wook plays the role of Seo Ho Su, a student who holds top grades despite the challenging circumstances. 

Just before the release of the K-drama, the actor was embroiled in a controversy after being caught disposing of cigarette butts on the street without permission, for which he had to pay a fine. 

In response, Choi Hyun Wook conveyed his remorse through a handwritten letter, stating, “First, I would like to extend my apologies to the fans for causing disappointment. Despite the need to be responsible at all times, I have disappointed many people with my reckless actions. Once again, I apologize to the drama director, writer, staff, fellow actors, and everyone I am working with. I will humbly accept the criticism and advice that you have given me, and I will reflect on myself and work hard to show a more mature side of myself in the future”.

Making his first public appearance since the controversy, Choi Hyun Wook expressed, “Through this opportunity, I want to apologize once again for causing any inconvenience. I will try to reflect a lot and will make efforts to act with a sense of responsibility based on the advice and guidance of the many people around me”.

Addressing concerns about how the recent controversy might affect the drama and how people will view his role of a model student, he explained, “I truly feel sorry for causing any trouble to the drama”. “In the beginning, my character, Ho Su, has limited screen time. As the story progresses, his secrets are revealed. He is a kind and innocent character”.

When asked how he plans to overcome the distraction caused by his controversy, he replied, “I am reflecting a lot. As I mentioned earlier, I received a lot of advice and guidance from people around me. I think it came from my immaturity of not being aware of my position. I want to apologize once again. In the future, I will act with a sense of responsibility”.

Finally, Choi Hyun Wook expressed his hope that people see Ho Su as a friend whom they would want to protect. He also said, “As a human being and an actor, I will make an effort to become a better version of myself”.
