Their growing family! Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy have shared glimpses of their sweetest moments with their son Rome following his arrival.
The Dancing With the Stars couple announced in July 2022 that they were expecting their first child. “Our biggest dream come true yet 🤍,” Johnson gushed alongside several photos from a maternity shoot via Instagram. “Baby Chmerkovskiy coming this January! My heart has grown beyond comprehension while growing this little miracle inside of me. We can’t wait to meet our precious angel.”
The choreographer, who tied the knot with Chmerkovskiy in 2019, discussed how the pair dealt with infertility before the exciting news.
“We had actually stopped trying to conceive for about 6 months to mentally/emotionally give ourselves a break… so the shock, disbelief, and sheer joy in this moment is a memory I will never forget 🤍,” Johnson wrote alongside a July 2022 Instagram video of her finding out that she is pregnant. “I want to keep this moment very positive because there is so much to celebrate and my heart is overflowing with gratitude, BUT our journey getting to this point wasn’t an easy one.”
The Utah native continued: “After two years of infertility, and hundreds of negative tests after negative tests, it was heart wrenching at times to stay optimistic and made me question whether I would ever have this opportunity. I will go into more depth about our fertility journey a little later on, but if any of you out there are struggling to get pregnant, suffering from infertility, or mourning a pregnancy loss… don’t lose HOPE.”
Ahead of their son’s arrival, the DWTS pro weighed in on her and Chmerkovskiy’s potential dynamics as parents.
“I already know that it’s gonna be good cop, bad cop and I’m gonna be the bad cop. I know [Val’s] gonna give into everything and be such a little sucker,” she exclusively told Us Weekly in September 2022. “He’s gonna be very involved. He wants to style him. They’re gonna have the matching outfits. We’ve already gone there.”
Johnson noted that her pregnancy brought her and her husband closer together, adding, “He’s been such an amazing support during my pregnancy because there’s a lot of things happening to my body that are strange and not normal. And he just makes me feel like an absolute beauty queen. With everything getting bigger and changing, he just loves it. And not even that physical aspect, but just knowing that we’re gonna have a little human that’s ours together is really beautiful.”
In January 2023, the pair confirmed that they welcomed a baby boy.
“One week with my little love ✨,” the new mom captioned a sweet photo with her newborn that same month. “I promise I will share more when we are ready. Trying to soak up all of these precious moments and transition into parenthood the best we can.”
She added: “I do finally understand what everyone has been preaching to me… ‘You think you know what love is, and then you have a child.’ My heart is forever his and my world is so much brighter with him in it 🤍.”
