SBS’s mystery thriller Connection dropped the first character stills of Ji Sung.
Connection tells the story of an ace detective in the narcotics team, forcibly addicted to drugs. He uncovers the entire story of connections of a 20-year distorted friendship using the death of his friend as a clue.
In the K-drama, Ji Sung portrays an ace detective, Jang Jae Kyung, in the Narcotics Department at Anhyeon Police Station. The stills show Jang Jae Kyung receiving a special promotion to the rank of inspector for his outstanding ability to arrest criminals.
Impeccably dressed in police uniform, with unwavering determination evident in his gaze, Jang Jae Kyung offers a salute to his senior and junior colleagues who gave thunderous applause.
Having stubbornly refused to make connections, fearing that his ties or backing might become vulnerabilities to the police force, Jang Jae Kyung considers the promotion a triumph for the principles he has upheld.
The teasers raise curiosity as to why Jang Jae Kyung, a staunch man of principles, has fallen victim to drugs.
Ji Sung revealed he chose the drama for its solid script. The actor commented, “This drama has a unique theme that has not been commonly employed in dramas before, and it also carries a heavy message about the drug crimes that must be addressed in reality.”
He further stated, “The biggest goal was to portray Jang Jae Kyung’s psychological and external changes in a way that doesn’t appear overly sensational,” and added, “I think it would be great if you watch the drama while thinking about Jang Jae Kyung’s struggle and the root cause of the various actions that he will take as he gets entangled in an incident. The actors and the staff are putting their hearts into every scene, so please show lots of interest.”
Connection is scheduled to premiere on May 24. More news about the K-drama’s OTT streaming service is yet to come.
