Kim Yoo-jung enlists Song Kang as her Demon bodyguard

A new teaser has arrived for SBS’s new fantasy My Demon, revealing our main pair’s fated first meeting when our chaebol heiress Kim Yoo-jung (Lovers of the Red Sky) somehow causes Song Kang’s (Forecasting Love and Weather) demon powers to disappear.

Opening in media res, Jung Gu-won (Song Kang) is sunk into the depths of the cold sea and who shall appear but Do Do-hee (Kim Yoo-jung). But when she grabs Gu-won’s hand, the cross tattoo on his wrist burns away and it curiously reappears on Do-hee’s wrist instead. Unaware of what happened, she thinks to herself, “I need to let go of this man in order for me to live. This is all because of his name, Gu-won [the Korean word for salvation or save].”

Once on land, an angry Gu-won wants to know what Do-hee did to him, claiming, “This [tattoo] may be on your wrist now, but this is supposed to be mine.” Appalled by his aggressiveness, Do-hee slaps Gu-won and calls him crazy, yelling back, “I rescued you from drowning and you’re demanding your tattoo back?!” In the intermittent text screens, we read: “A fate that one doesn’t want to lose,” and “an ill-fate that makes one lose their mind?!”

Flashing back to his past, Gu-won tries to introduce himself, but our heroine remains in disbelief: “You’re saying you’re a demon? Not even a Pokemon, you’re making me cringe. What’s a demon supposed to be?” Having expected her reaction, Gu-won wonders how humans never believe the first time they’re told.

It seems that the cross tattoo still allows Gu-won to use his powers, but only with Do-hee as his magic wand, and it’s unclear if this means she can wield the powers herself. Our leads are then transported atop a tower and a distressed Do-hee cries that she has a phobia of heights. When she demands to know Gu-won’s real identity, he replies, “You all call me the devil as well.”

But despite being a scary demon, the following text screens announce that the powerless demon becomes bodyguard to the human who slapped him. Do-hee volun-tells him for the job, adding that she’ll get the tattoo removed if he doesn’t agree. Gu-won is indignant that she dares threaten a demon, but our sassy heroine simply says, “I haven’t even started my threats yet.”

We then cut to our main pair in dance and the teaser closes on Gu-won asking Do-hee, “Is it that hard to take care of your own body? If you possess someone else’s precious item, you should act responsibly.”

With production led by PD Kim Jang-han (You Raise Me Up, Do You Like Brahms) and writer Choi Ah-il (Mr. Queen), SBS’s My Demon premieres on November 24, airing in the weekend slot following 7 Escape: War for Survival.
