Park So Dam made her first public appearance after battling cancer through the press conference of the movie “Phantom.”

The upcoming movie “Phantom” held its press conference on January 11 at the CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall. It was attended by the main leads Sol Kyung Gu, Lee Ha Nee, Park So Dam, Seo Hyun Woo, and director Lee Hae Young

“Phantom” is an action-espionage movie set in 1933. It will showcase the happenings in a remote hotel in 1933 during the Japanese colonization of Korea. The film will reveal the story of five people who are suspected of being a “ghost,” a spy planted by the anti-Japanese organizations in Gyeongseong and the Governor-General of Joseon.

During the press conference, Lee Ha Nee shared her thoughts on meeting Park So Dam again. The actress shared how she loved the lively spirit and strong personality of the actress. Lee Ha Nee also stated, “Even though she’s younger than me, I have a lot of respect for her.”

With this, Park So Dam replied and made the whole press conference a sea of tears.

Park So Dam shared, “Even listening to Lee Ha Nee’s voice strangely comforts me until now.” The reason behind it is because of the character of Lee Ha Nee (Park Cha Kyung) in the film and also the line she uttered that struck Park So Dam.

The actress continued while in tears, “Park Cha Kyung’s line stating ‘live’ was the word I needed the most. I felt like I met a great person at a time when I was struggling and alone. The energy I received from my seniors while filming was so great.”

Back in 2021, Park So Dam was diagnosed with thyroid papillary cancer and underwent surgery after filming “Phantom.” She also made a hiatus and wasn’t able to promote her 2022 film “Special Delivery.”

The press conference for “Phantom” was the first activity of Park So Dam after taking a break and recovering.

Park So Dam shared, “During the production presentation, it was all smooth but today, the gratitude and emotions I felt back then are coming back. I was very grateful to my seniors throughout the filming and I want to pay back for it by being active in the movie promotion. Thank you and I love you.”

Film director Lee Hae Young and Lee Ha Nee also shed tears while listening to Park So Dam’s sincere message.

As Seol Kyung Gyu was watching, he encouraged everyone and stated, “I’m proud of Park So Dam. She had to undergo a hard surgery right after the filming of ‘Phantom’ was over.”

Director Lee Hae Young also commented, “While filming, everyone had to do a lot of difficult things. Park So Dam was not as an exception and despite her physical condition at that time, she also did her best. I didn’t know at that time so I thought I might have asked for too much that’s why I’m tearful.”

With everyone’s encouragement, Park So Dam concluded, “Because I’ve worried a lot of many people, I will be active more in the future. I will live a healthy life. I wish everyone will also be healthy.”

“Phantom” is set to premiere in Korean theaters on January 18.
