Ra Mi Ran and Lee Re are confirmed to lead the new K-drama titled “Strange Sweets Shop Jeoncheondang.”
It was officially confirmed on February 9 that Ra Mi Ran and Lee Re will be the main leads of the upcoming fantasy K-drama “Strange Sweets Shop Jeoncheondang.” The two will work with director Park Bong Sub who also created the K-dramas “Eve,” “Dinner Mate,” and “Love for a Thousand More.”
“Strange Sweets Shop Jeoncheondang” will base its story on the popular novel of the same name by Reiko Hiroshima. It is a fantasy K-drama that will revolve around Jeoncheondang, a mysterious candy store that sells snacks that fulfills wishes and the mysterious life stories of the people who visit the store.
The novel was first published in 2013. It easily became the no.1 in the fantasy field and every time a new volume was released, the novel becomes popular in Korea. Over 16 books were published until November last year.
“Strange Sweets Shop Jeoncheondang” will premiere in the second half of the year.
Ra Mi Ran will play the role of Hong Ja. She is the mysterious owner of the Jeoncheondang. She silently watches the choices of customers and she sells magic snacks to grant their wishes. This will be the third upcoming K-drama of the actress. She will also lead the upcoming series “The Good Bad Mother” and “Cruel Intern.” Ra Mi Ran will also join the upcoming films “Citizen of a Kind” and “High Five.”
Lee Re will play the role of Yo Mi, the owner of the confectionary store Hwaangdang. It is the rival of the Jeoncheondang store. This will be a comeback K-drama of Lee Re after two years. The actress last starred in the Netflix original K-drama “Hellbound.” Lee Re will also star in the upcoming film “Three Days” with Park Shin Yang, Lee Min Ki, Yoon Jong Seok, and Woo Min Ji.
