Marina and damian kiss each other and caress each other. Suddenly, marina pulls away and tells damian not to go near her ever again and she leaves. Mayuya suggests to esthercita that there might be something going on between marina and damian or at least, that marina might be trying to steal him from her; although, she adds, she should not worry because damian is getting married to her anyway. Esthercita orders her to go find out from the sailors if damian and marina are having an affair.
Mayuya tells esthercita that the sailors were talking among themselves saying that damian’s boat had been attacked by pirates and that he had protected marina as if she were his lady; and that she had nursed him after that and that they looked like a couple of sweethearts. Esthercita, furious, attacks marina when she runs into her in the town square, fulgencio, furious, separates them. Marina tells fulgencio that his daughter is a savage and that she is going to sue her so she gets put in prison.
Mercedes tells alicia that she remembers the time when she was one of ernesto’s victims and that he had discarded her afterwards as if she were an old rag. Alicia tells her she got on with her life on her own. Mercedes tells her that it was like that at first but that later, she (alicia) had helped her a lot and she is never going to forget that. Delfina, upset, tells esthercita that nothing justified her quarreling in the middle of the street; she tells her that that is going to get the whole town gossiping about them.
Esthercita tells her she is never going back there once she is married. Eusebia tells damian that it is not advisable for him to marry esthercita. He tells her that she herself taught him to fulfill his word. Eusebia tells him that that is true but that she received a sign that that wedding should never take place; that besides that, he is in love with marina, even if he denies it. Esthercita receives her wedding gown and she tells mayuya and her mother that she is not going to do anything until she has spoken with damian.
Delfina tells her that men don’t get as excited about a wedding as women do, and damian even less; so she can do whatever she pleases but that if he gets tired of waiting for her, she should not cry later on. Beatriz tells marina that having been attacked by the cacique’s daughter and the fact that damian beat hernan up, is a sign that they should go away from that town. Marina, upset, tells beatriz that she never asked hernan to interfere and that whatever may happen between her and damian is their own business because damian is her employee.
Mercedes tells alicia that the only man she has ever loved in her whole life was michel fabre, damian’s father and that she distanced herself from him because he never saw her as a woman; that she left the town only to fall into the hands of ernesto. Nereo wakes up and shouts at betina to serve him his food and asks her where jazmin is. Betina tells him she sent her to buy another bottle of rum.
Nereo threatens with beating her up but betina defends herself and hits him with a frying pan and she escapes. Marina demands hernan not to fight ever again with damian, or anybody else for her.
