Team Dramabeans: What we’re watching (November 11, 2023)
by DB Staff
So, what are we all watching this week?
What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

Moon in the Day: *thinks of something nice to say* Boy, Kim Young-dae was made for cardigans. He looks damn good in them.
A Good Day to Be a Dog: Outside of being frustrated by the constant preemptions (1x a week is already rough for my drama appetite), I still love the cheery, over-saturated world of this drama. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to love Park Kyu-young as much as I did in Dal-li and Gamjatang (it’s just such a perfect role for her), but she’s a delight here too.

Twinkling Watermelon: Catching up on a lot of dramas after being on vacation for two weeks, and it was nice to have four episodes of Twinkling Watermelon to binge in one sitting. Extremely pleased that this drama has held up and remained consistently good, and I’m trusting this one to stick the landing.
A Good Day to Be a Dog: This drama is an adorable adaptation of the webtoon, but — ugh! — the release schedule for the episodes is the absolute worst – like worse than American television! I can’t decide if I want to put this one on pause until all the episodes are out or continue at this achingly slow pace. Either way, I have to wait until January to watch the finale, which is a bit torturous. I’m just glad I read the webtoon, so I have at least some sense of how it will end.
Castaway Diva: Ahhhh! My Start Up PTSD is being triggered by this storyline. I’m worried that the guy I want Mok-ha to fall in love with (Bo-geol) is not going to be Ki-ho, and that has me all sorts of conflicted. Also, I don’t wholly trust that Ran-joo will be willing to give up the limelight and tell the world that Mok-ha was singing on her behalf. Then again, maybe once Ran-joo has the financial security of her company shares, she will be more willing to pass on the mic and feel accomplished fostering Mok-ha’s career.

Castaway Diva: Park Eun-bin excels in acting and singing, too? Wow! She really can do everything — except find Ki-ho, that is. I hope the show doesn’t drag out the Ki-ho mystery too much. I need Castaway Diva to be focused on the Diva, and not sidetracked by love triangles or shipping wars.
Twinkling Watermelon: That slap was the icing on the delicious cake that was this week’s episodes! Chung-ha is standing up for herself and connecting with her future family, both ships have sailed, and the OST I’ve been waiting for has been released! Overall, it was a happy week for me. But that cliffhanger though…
Perfect Marriage Revenge: Do-gook’s “confession” was the highlight of this week for me. You just know he meant every word of it. Smooth, man, real smooth. Meanwhile, can someone give his wardrobe a makeover!? Unlike Yi-joo’s family, Do-gook’s family is such a delightful not-your-typical-chaebol household, and I’m loving them — minus Jung-wook. Jung-wook is a much better fit in Yi-joo’s schemey family, and I wish his family can somehow swap him with Yi-joo’s eccentric grandpa. Grandpa and Grandma are such a hilarious pair of frenemies!
Strong Girl Nam-soon: I can’t take this drama seriously. But that’s the point, right? It is supposed to be to be a silly watch. Shut off your brain and enjoy the experience. And I’m enjoying every moment of it.
Moon in the Day: Week 2, and I’m still trudging along with a show I should have dropped after the first episode. Man, the things I do for Kim Young-dae…
