Damian tells candy that, out of consideration for lazaro, he wants to ask her to assign jazmin to a different kind of job like, for example, as waitress; he explains to her he is not asking her that for his own sake but for lazaro’s who has grown very fond of jazmin and he wouldn’t like to see her with other clients. Candy tells him she would do it gladly for his sake but, that there is a man called nereo who manages jazmin and that she doesn’t think he is going to like the idea. Damian tells her he is going to speak with nereo directly.
Rebeca tells marina that she knows that she went to live to that place because of her mother’s illness and that she (rebeca) has gone there to give them a hand, that she is not going to leave Them on their own. Esthercita, furious, threatens with ripping her wedding gown. Her mother tells her that, before she married her (esthercita’s) father, he went out with many other women but that, in the end, he married her. She warns esthercita not to even think of reproaching damian for anything because there is nothing a man hates more than a jealous, hysterical woman; that, besides that, she is sure that the ring that damian dropped was meant for her.
Hernan serenades marina. Rebeca who is excited, tells her to at least go out to thank him for the thought. Marina tells her she doesn’t know what to say and that she doesn’t want hernan to have false hopes. Rebeca tells her that, according to what her (marina’s) mother has told her, hernan is the kind of man every woman wants as a husband; that he is handsome and is wealthy. Marina, upset, tells her to stop telling her about hernan’s qualities because she is not looking for a husband. Marina thanks hernan for the serenade and hernan kisses her precisely when damian is approaching.
When marina notices him, she pretends she is returning hernan’s kiss but then, she slaps hernan and warns him never to kiss her again without her consent. Delfina tries to convince fulgencio to participate in esthercita’s wedding preparations because, once she is married, damian will be like a son for him. Fulgencio, furious, tells her he gave his consent for that wedding but that he will do nothing else and that he would rather be the devil’s father than to be damian’s. Damian, desolate, tells eusebia that her prediction was wrong because marina already accepted hernan, who is wealthy.
Eusebia tells him he has to fight because, even if it seems impossible, marina will accept him eventually but, that, first, he is going to have to overcome all the obstacles on his way. Beatriz tells rebeca that the reason why marina doesn’t want to accept hernan is because she is interested in damian, that, even if he is just a sailor, he is handsome and has personality. Damian shows up at marina’s office to tell her he is resigning.
