What we’re watching (July 1, 2023) MGG

Heartbeat: It was just okay for me. This is OTY’s wheelhouse, not much acting, but a great deal of exuberance and goofiness. So, it seems like light fare, I will stick to it.

Delightfully Deceitful: Initially I thought the writer was trying to convince us that these kids are brilliant and amazing, but I realize that may not have been the point. The point may have been that trauma breeds trauma, and that despite their supposed brilliance, they were just hurt children who needed to be loved and needed direction. I still think the story could have been told better and made in a way that made more sense, but I appreciate it more if I think about it that way.

Celebrity: What a ride that was. I enjoyed the drama except for the “romance.” It was weird and creepy. Listen, kudos to Min Hyuk because I think he did a bang up job, but the way his character was written is frightening. I kept yelling that man is a psychopath or a serial killer. When that maid took off his shoes, I kept yelling at A Ri to run, because I would have run screaming. The faulty and disturbing logic he used to explain why it was okay was even creepier. Outside of his character I actually enjoyed the rest of including all the FANCY PPL (plus Pringles, lol) and the RANDOM but fun cameo at the end. Busy actor that individual.

Numbers: Continues to be far and away more dramatic than it actually needs to be. Feints, trickery, corruption, and revenge by accountants, muahhahaha is basically the drama. Also, the women characters are not written well in this, very weird.

Revenant: Our resident evil spirit has decided to make herself known. So, the fight begins. I actually kind of like the ghost per week ultimately intertwining with the ultimate story arc.

King the Land: It was so funny because after the convo with that horrible excuse for a boyfriend, when she was coming up the stairs, I thought for sure she wouldn’t have an umbrella, but she did, and then it is like the writer remembered it had to be dramatic so had her stand in the rain without the umbrella so our hero could shield her. Ha. Yoona is at her weakest when she has to emote anything more than joy, so hopefully we get back to the funny because much like OTY, light fare is better for her and the audience.

See you in my 19th life: I am most excited about watching this every weekend. I save it for my Sundays, lol. I say everything about this drama on my wall or under the recap. EEK.

C-drama

Hidden Love: @dorotka put me on game (and other beanies also recommended in the comments) and I have not looked back. The fact that it is basically a daily drama makes it even better. Our leads are disgustingly cute together. Jiaoxu puts on game, when he made his decision, he went full throttle. He is such a skinny lad and then those massive clown shoes he wears, hilarious. No fashion there. It is interesting to note the Chinese influence or is it the Korean influence (someone who knows better can correct me) on…
