Hey everyone!
So, since last week I’ve really ramped up my drama-watching. I’m still watching See You in My 19th Life and grow more and more disappointed by it each week. I’m only still watching because I’m doing a group watch with friends who are fans of the webtoon. It’s lots of moaning and groaning from us during these watches!
But Beanies also made me watch Heartbeat, and I LOVE IT. I devoured all of the episodes available and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for us. It’s just a really fun time and I love both of the leads. It’s been a while since I was this invested in a drama! I already wrote an essay on the most recent recap so I’ll stop here.
I also picked up Not Others, which I am enjoying as well. I’m a sucker for mother/daughter relationships, and this drama seems to be touching some topics that tend to be avoided in dramaland. It’s fun enough so far, I just wish Park Sung-hoon’s character would lighten up a bit! I miss Ggong!
I also started Revenant, and I’ve only seen the first two episodes, but it’s amazing how many familiar faces are in this show. It really is a stellar cast, and Kim Tae-ri is great as always. These supernatural thriller/horror shows were totally up my alley as a kid, and while I don’t watch as many of them now, I like how nostalgic this one makes me feel. I can’t wait to get into it more, but I have it on hold because I started to watch…
Anna! The Director’s Cut. I’ve heard very good things about this one, so I thought I’d give it a go. I watched the first 4 episodes today. It’s very entertaining, but I can’t help but be flabbergasted as to how she didn’t get caught early on. The real Anna seems like she would be the type to be all over social media. I can’t believe she has such a reputation and yet all these fellow alumni that Yu-mi has met never seemed to have seen her face before. I know some people are very convincing liars, but I’m also stunned that she’s been friends with Ji-won for so long and yet nothing stuck out as odd to her in all these years. But well, if I turn my brain off, it’s a fun show to watch. Is it just a coincidence that this aired so close to when Inventing Anna dropped?
I began Lies Hidden in My Garden on the train the other day, but got distracted and didn’t end up finishing the first episode. I was intrigued by what I did see, though, and was most impressed by how beautiful the cinematography is! I’m surprised because it’s an ENA show and their dramas tend to look more low budget than other networks (probably because they are). When I saw who the director was, though, it all made sense. He just really knows how to make a show look beautiful.
That’s about it! I’m looking forward to season 2 of D.P. later this week, even though I don’t think it needs one at all. See you Beans later!
