Garibaldi and Joaquim fight. Joaquim assures Manuela that he no longer wants. Terêncio tells Rosário that he found the body of the Caramuru, and she’s relieved to see that it wasn’t Estevão. Luiza asks Rosário to forget Estevão. Maria despairs when she learns that Joaquim no longer wants to marry Manuela, thinking that Garibaldi took her daughter’s virginity.
Knowing that the Imperials are going to attack Piratini, Bento Gonçalves decides to transfer the capital of the Republic to Caçapava. Maria tries to see if Manuela is still a virgin but is stopped by the other women. Mariana finds out that Maria herself had already gone through the same situation.
Bento Gonçalves tells his men that they need a port; and to that end, Santa Catarina would have to join the cause. Garibaldi asks Maria to let him marry Manuela, but she says she’ll never do that. Bentinho sees Luzia having sex with Caetano.
Corte Real tells Rosário that Estevão is given for dead. Garibaldi assures Manuela that he’ll ask Bento Gonçalves for permission to marry her.
